About:China Tourist Visa

Am I supposed to use the Service Center, instead of going to a Chinese Consulate

I heard people are supposed to use the CVASC instead of going to a Chinese Consulate, beginning September 2013. Supposedly they only issue Tourist visas. What's the story with this?

No, you need to apply from Chinese embassy/consulate directly. As I know, the Service Center has not been introduced in USA.
