Visa requirements for Hong Kong and Shanghai

I will be travelling to Shanghai and Hong Kong next April on Queen Mary 2 on holidays.
What type or entry permits do I require.

You are allowed free entry to HK with Australian passport, but you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance if your stay in Shanghai is longer than 24 hours. A single entry L is enough if you only enter China (Shanghai) once.
