I am travelling India - Shanghai - Melbourne, Australia. Arrive Fri evening and depart Sunday evening. I am not staying at a hotel, but with friends in Shanghai. Am I eligable for the 72 transit exemption and do I need to register at a Police station on arrival given I am not staying in a hotel.
