You should provide your passport, filled application form and recent passport size photo. If you apply for X1 type, you need also to provide the admission letter (both orginal and copy) from the university and JW201 OR JW202 application form. If you apply for the X2 type, the JW201 OR JW202 form is not needed. X1 enables you stay more than 180 days in PRC while X2 just allows you to stay less than 180 days. Besides, you should apply for the resident permit within 30 days when you arrive in PRC if you hold X1 type.
