hong kongapplying for china tourist visa

Question

I am currently on a Student Exchange program and reside in the North of China. I'm planning a trip with my girlfriend around China, until the 3rd of January, but the company I signed up with has said that I must go to Hong Kong and get a new one. Does anyone know how long it takes/how difficult it is to get from Beijing to Hong Kong just to get it?

So you mean to apply for a tourist L in Hong Kong? but may I know what type of it you are holding now as a student there? I don't think it is necessary if you have a valid Chinese visa already.
