Unmarried on S1 visa

Hi there. I have one question. My girlfriend of 4 years is working in China. Is it possible for me to get a S1 to go for a extended stay with even though we are not married. If so what kind of documents would we need to proof that we have indeed been a relationship that long.

I am thinking you can try to apply for a S2 instead, with an invitation letter from your girlfriend, and extend it before it expires or apply multiple entry S2. For S1 application, you have to provide marriage certificate as I know.
