Question on Connection from US to Thailand, passing Shanghai Pudong Airport.

If arriving from the United States and connecting to Bangkok after a four hour layover, do I need to go through immigration? Someone told me I need to claim my bags and recheck them? Is that true? Is connection through PVG as difficult as I've been told, or am I overreacting?

Thanks!

You do not need to go throught the immigration, for it is an international transfer.
Whether to claim the luggage, it is suggeste to consult the airline company directly. Generally speaking, if you book the connecting flights or the flights from one airline company, it is no need to claim the luggage.
It is not difficult to transfer and the direction boards in the airport are very clear, so please do not worry.
