About:Beijing - Shanghai High Speed Train

Advanced reservations required / Credit card payment at ticketing counter

1. Is it recommended to make advanced reservations or can I purchase a ticket (Beijing to Shanghai) on the day of departure at the railway station?

2. If I purchase at the railway station (instead of online) do they accept credit cards (AMEX) or only cash?

Thank you!

1. If you are traveling on weekends or holidays, it is best to book the tickets in advance in case they are sold out. If it is on weekdays, generally you can get the ticket on the departing day.
2. To take a high-speed train from Beijing to Shanghai, you need to get the ticket at the South Railway Station, where there are several counters accepting credit card payment. Apart from that, in most cases, you have to pay in cash.
