About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need to get a visa, or am I eligible the 72 hr free transit?

I have a ticket for a flight from Japan to Beijing, spend one night in Beijing and then flying from Beijing via Shangai (3hrs there) to Kuala Lumpur. I am traveling on a Canadian passport.

Thanks

Hi, visa is not required if your total stay in China is less than 24 hours, including the domestic flght from Beijing to Shanghai. Otherwise, you have to apply for a visa in advance. The 72 hour free transit is for air passengers with stopover in one city only.
