According to the description of the hitorical records, the main terrains includes Gobi/desert, mountainous region, grassland and swamp.

They mainly traded silk, lacquer, porcelain, tea and some fruits & vegetables, etc.

On the silk road, iron, ceramics, paper, gunpowder, ivory, rhinoceros horns, music, and glassware were traded the merchants also traded religion like Buddhism.....I know this because we are learning it in school.
