I'm flying to Myanmar from Hawaii with an over night layover in Kumming Changshui.

How long do you stay in Kunming? If you stay less than 24 hours and the hotel is outside of the airport, you need to apply for a stay permit. If it is located inside the airport, you don't need to apply the stay permit. However, you have to apply for a transit type visa if you stay longer than 24 hours.
