About:Marriage Registration in China

What Chinese divorce papers do I require?

I am a UK citizen, free to marry in UK law. I married a Chinese national in PRC and she divorced me after 12 months. I hired a private detective but he could not trace her. He did get a screen shot from her Marriage office with photo and ID No showing we are now divorced. Question - I plan to marry again another Chinese national. Do I need to declare my Chinese divorce as I cannot get a copy of the papers from her but I am satisfied that I am divorced?

It sounds strange. How could she divorce you without your presence? According to what I know, both sides have to present at the scene and then they each will receive their green divorce certificate. If you want to get married with another Chinese girl and register in PRC, your previous divorce certificate is needed. I think you should come to the civil affairs bureau and check it carefully.

Thanks David. I sent a notarised letter with official stamp from Chinese Embassy stating that I wanted to end my marriage so that she could divorce me. She wanted me to go to meet her at the tme but I was not interested to do that then. The PD in China has emailed me a screen shot with her photo & ID No from civil affairs office stating that she is now divorced but he could find no record of my name as i am a foreign national. If she is divorced then clearly I am not married to her. I will contact the marriage office (bureau of civil affairs?) in Tinajin and see if they will send me a certificate. Any further advice much appreciated. My main concern is that i cannot be guilty of having two wives!
