can i apply for a transit visa

Hi I hold Vietnamese passport, i flight from washington DC to Guangzhou. I'm planning to stay in guangzhou 5 days, the flight to Singapore. can I apply for a transit G instead of a tourist L?

If you intend to transit through China, you can apply for transit G, which allows 7 days stay.
