About:China Embassy in Thailand

What are the requirements to get a visa to visit my relative in China?

I'm a U.S citizen. I am on vacation in Hong Kong, have a round trip airplane tickets from U.S. to Hong Kong, Thailand, but I am currently visiting my friend in Thailand.

It is impossible for you to apply for Chinese visa in Thailand, so you have to apply in HK instead. S2 is the correct type you need to apply for, and invitation letter from your relative and copies of their visa and residence permit are required.
