time difference between flight vs. hi-speed train from yichang to shanghai

Question

Scheduled to travel from YC (after Yangtse Cruise), & go on to Shanghai. The flights weren't available so we'll be on the hi speed train. Is this safe? & how does the time compare between the flight & the train ride?Thanks

The high speed train is safe, but there are only two trains from YC to Shanghai at 07:10 and 13:40. The train takes about eight hours and a half on the way. The flight takes about an hour and forty minutes on the way.
