About:China Work Visa

I have been to China twice in the last 2 years on Tourist Visas. I am hoping to be for 12 months.

Hello, I'm 27 years old and am from Australia. I'm wanting to move in November. I just recently graduated and hold a Bachelor's degree and over 5 years working experience in a professional environment.
I want to move to China first and then apply for jobs once I am there, because a lot of jobs online request me to be an "expat" living.
Can I apply for a Work Z before I visit if I do not have a job/employer?
Or do I have to apply for a Tourist L and change my its status to Work Z once I find employment there?
I just need to know what is the best type to apply for now.
Thanks.

If your purpose is to work, you should apply for a work Z directly, but if you do not have an employer, you are not able to get a work Z type now. So, the best option for you is to enter with a tourist L first, which the application is the easiest. And then get work permit and official invitation letter once you get a position. Changing L to Z is impossible within mainland PRC, but it is worth a try to get this done in HK if you do not want to return back to Australia.
