About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit
Can I fly in from London, stay 72 hours then fly back to London without the visa now?

Not according to the above, where it says you must be transiting to a third country - not on a direct return flight. I guess LDN -BJ- HK - LDN would be OK.0
