About:Chinese Greetings

How do you greet a very close personalfriend, formaly?

I have a friend of 4 years and want to greet them formally.

Have you ever met before? If so, it is suggested to say 'it has been a long time/ long time no say' (Hao Jiu Bu Jian A) and it is best to add his name before greetings.
If not, Ni Hao is the best way for greetings.
