Do we require a China visa to enter Hainan island?

2 retired Canadians visiting Hainan Island for 12 days. We have a golf and tour itinerary booked through a Sanya travel agency on the Island.

Yes, you two have to apply for the L type before you go to Sanya. It's easy to get it. You just need to provide your passport, filled application form affixed with a recent passport size photo and the invitation letter from the travel agency.
