About:China Consulate in Houston

to apply visa do I have to have my airline ticket?

or can I apply without it. I have all the other documents that are required.

The fact is that air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation are required for tourist L applicaion, unless you have an invitation letter issued by a travel agency, relevant entity or individual in China.
