Visa requirement for Family accompanying US citizen on work Z

My wife has been contracted to work for 4 months in Beijing on a work Z. As an accompanying spouse, do I need a separate invitation letter from the hiring company or do I submit my spouses invitation letter with my application? Also, as I would need to leave/enter the country several times back to the US, so is it better for me apply for a Tourist L or apply along with my spouses work Z.

Hi, under the new regulation from Spet. 1 2013, you are required to apply S type as a spouse of work Z holder.
If you both apply together, you can share her invitation letter and provide your original and photocopy of marriage certificate.
