About:China Customs Declaration

What happens when you declare more than 20 000 CNY to customs?

I am a student going for a five month exchange. I will be bringing in around 43 000 CNY to use during my trip. When i declare it to Customs what is the procedure and what happens?

I am scared that they will take my money away.

Do i pay tax on the money?

You just need to write down the real amount of money that you take in on the declaration form. I heard there is no need to pay tax.
Which airport will you fly into China? Then I can provide you their contact and you can consult the details directly.
