Americans for 1-year tourist visas

I am looking to pick up a 1-year tourist L in HK on my way to BJ. I have a history of abiding by the policy, although its been about two years since I last got one. Is this possible from HK?

I am afraid not, because it is very difficult to get a multiple entry one unless you are HK resident and being issued Chinese visas within last two years. But I am thinking it will not be a prolem for you to get a single entry or double entry one there even you have bad record.
