About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Stand-by travel.

Would this rule work for stand by travel? But it's not a confirmed ticket, so I have to wait for a seat at the airport if there seats available. But for the third country that will be leaving is Japan in less then 72 hours.

I am afraid not, you need to apply for a Transit G in advance.
