From Yuyuan subway station to yuyuan gardens in Shanghai

Understand the walk to the garden is through small elleyways etc. Could someone give me some detailed instructions pl.....or as complete as possible.
If by taxi will it drop us at the gate and then on return are taxis availavable for going to people's square and what will be the cost. Do the taxis charge much more than the metered fare. If to be negotiated what should it be. Thanks
