About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Hello, when do I need to contact the airline so they can be in touch which Chinese authorities in order to obtain the visa free status?

Does it need to be well in advance or should it be at the check in counter on the day of the flight?

Do you mean 72 hours free transit policy? You need to inform your airlines at least 30 minutes before the plane lands at the airport.
