Visit to a "non-renovated" part of the Great Wall

Hello, wonder if anyone can help me! Last weekend I went to Badaling Great Wall and even though it wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be, it looked like it was built last year! In 2008 I walked the section from Simatai to Jinshanling - thoroughly enjoyed it! I believe the Simatai section is closed and I would now like to visit a "crumbling" part of the Wall. Sounds crazy? Can anyone please give advice - I'd love to stay over in a village or a cheap hotel for the Saturday night! Some advice on any good places, accommodation and transport there?

Help will be appreciated!

Etienne

Jiankou and Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall are suggested.
For Huanghuacheng, you can go to the Dongzhimen Bus Station to take bus 916 to reach Huairou. Then you can hire a local taxi to reach the water wall directly. Near the attraction, you can find many home stay hostels to live.
For Jiankou, you can also take the bus 916 to reach Huairou and then change to hire a local car to reach Jiankou directly. Living in the nearby villages are suggested.
