what can i do with a 19 hour transit?

Heya, I am from New Zealand and my boyfriend is from Germany and will be traveling to NZ from Germany and back in October. Both ways we have a 19 hour transit in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Do we get a hotel or food vouchers or are we allowed to go out of the airport to do something for the 19 hours? Do we need to apply for anything? :)

Hi, it is easy for you to get a free stay permit after arrival at the airport if you want to go out of the airport. Original passport and flight ticket are enough for application.
