Tourist Visa to China for Girlfriend

I am a US Citizen living in Washington DC. My fiance lives in the Philippines. We plan on vacationing together for 8 days in September. I will get my application done in the US and will pay for our airplane ticket and hotel stay. We also have an invitation letter from our hosts. Does my fiance still need a bank statement? When she applies hers, she will have the official letter of invite, a letter from me indicating I am paying her expenses, my bank statement, airplane ticket and hotel reservation. Thanks
