About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Any idea what will happen to L-Visa holders who wanna apply for a residence permit after Sep. 1st?

I have a 3 months family visit L with 30days duration of stay. Since I have a Chinese wife, we are planning to apply for a temporary residence permit for me. I will be arrive August 28th and until I arrive to her hometown and wanna start the regulations and preparation of the documents for it (Such as the health certificate), i will be definitely after September first.
1.Anyone has any idea that with introduction of Q1 and Q2 I can still change my L to a residence permit?
2.or is it possible to change a L to Q1? I heard the change inside mainaldn is possible...
3.and the last question, we have to go to the related police department of her hometown or we need to apply it the capital city of her province? thank you in advance

I think you can enter with your L first, then apply for a conversion to Q1 after entry. If possible, ask your wife to get direct answer from her local PSB (city level is ok, but not the capital city only). I am not sure if the L can still be changed into a residence permit or not after July 1st.

Thanks Tommy
I checked with an office in Shanghai, they said it's still possible BUT they suggested me to apply for residence permit before Sep. 1st. They dunno what would happen after that. but at this point, it's still possible. I'll keep you updated ;)
