About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

2 entry Chinese visa - is transfer in China considered an entry?

I have two entries, flying HongKong - Shanghai (only transfer) - Tokyo. When entering Shanghai airport, will they consider that as an entry, i.e. will they stamp my visa and subtract one entry?
(I will need the 2 entries later for 'proper' entries.)
Thank you!

Hi, you can enjoy 72 hour free transit in Shanghai. So, the transfer will not be considered as an entry. Make sure inform your airline first about the free transit need, then you will be granted an free permit upon arrival at the airport with your passport and onward flight ticket. But if your transit is less than 24 hours, it is not necessary to do so.
