About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Novosibirsk->Beijing, Beijing->JFK

Could I purchase my tickets separately Novosibirsk->Beijing and then Beijing->JFK as a Russian citizen and staying in Beijing with the 72 hour visa free limit? If yes, can I present a print out of my reservation from Beijing to JFK and use that as proof of my transit since I won't have a real plane ticket for the second half of my journey?

According to the Beijing Capital International Airport website, one must meet the following requirements in order to apply for a free transit at the time of arrival into Beijing:

Holding passports issued by the following listed 45 countries,
Holding valid international travel documents,
Qualified for the entry requirements of their third destination country,
Holding valid airline tickets with 72-hour validation and making transit through Beijing Capital International Airport to the third country, and reported to Chinese immigration inspection authority by their airline companies.
