Chinese Work Visa application in Hong Kong

I already have my flights booked to go there but someone at my destination company has messed around with the application and it's going to take another month. Is it possible to get a L type one from here in England and then take my invitation letter over to Hong Kong and get my work type sorted out there when the invitation letter is ready?

Elliot, L type one is not needed if you go to HK. British citizens can stay in HK for 180 days at most with their passports. However, I am not sure whether you can apply for your work type in HK. Someone says that Z type one can only be obtained in their own country after the new regulations take effect.

I think you should contact the Office of the Commissioner of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in HK to confirm this. Tel: 852-34132300 (24 hour recorded information service) and 852-34132424 (live answering).
