About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Fly from BKK to Shanghai to Ho Chi Minh

Hi,

If I am planning on flying from bangkok to shanghai, staying in shanghai for 72 hours and then flying from shanghai to Ho chi minh city, can i still use this 72 hours free transit rule?

Theoretically, it should be ok if you have confirmed flight ticket leaving within 72 hours to a third country. But yours may not be considered as a transit actually by the immigration officers due to the distance between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. One of my British friend was refused this free transit in March when he traveled from Germany to Shanghai then back to Austria.
