Travel from Mongolia to Beijing

I just sent a question about getting a visa in Ulan Bator to enter China. I have entered from Hong Kong several times and did not need an invitation letter, but someone said that from Mongolia an invitation letter is necessary. What are the requirements to enter from Mongolia? And must I have an air ticket into and out before leaving Mongolia? I didn't need a ticket when I entered from Hong Kong. Many thanks.

Yes, Invitation letter (issued by Chinese citizens, foreigners with residence permit in China, travel agents or host company) is required if you are a temporary visitor in Mongolia. BTW, round-way tickets(original and the copy) and hotel booking are required for tourist L application.
