Hi, I find this page very useful!I am planning to take my parents (in their late 60s) to climb that mountain. I think they will love the view. But I have some worry:-Will it be possible for elderly to climb all the way up, is there only one route or any easier routes?-Any hotel recommendations close to sunrise watching on top of the mountain?-Will it be necessary to hire a guide? If yes, will it be easy to get a guide on the location itself?

It is possible to climb, if they do not have any illness. You can take the cable car to reach the top and then climb on your own for short distance. Shilin Hotel is very nice for you reqirements. It is not necessary to hire a guide in my opinion, but it is suggested to prepare well before you climb.
