About:China Visa Application in USA

May I get a visa in LA for both me and my wife?

My wife and I live in San Diego, CA. My wife and I are taking a September cruise which makes three stops in China (Qingdao, Dalian, Beijing). The cruise line (Princess) says this will require a single entry one for each of us. May I take our completed application to the Consulate in Los Angeles and obtain them for both of us, or do we both need to be physically present at the Consulate?

LA consulate is responsible for those applicants in southern CA and San Francisco consulate is for Nothern CA. The applicants should apply at the consulate in their consular area. By the way, the applicants can apply in person or assign someone or agency to apply for them.
