Travel in Xinjiang

Hi,
1. How to travel to Sayram lake from Urumqi and then to Hucheng to see lavender field?
2. Can we stay in yurt at Sayram lake
3. We want to see grape harvest at Turpan. When is the best time?
4. How long it takes by car from Karakul lake to Khunjerab pass? Do we need to stay overnight at Tashkargun?

From Urumqi, you can go to local Nianzigou Bus Station to take buses for Yining and this buses pass the Sayram Lake. So you can get off the bus during the journey and the journey take about 7 to 8 hours. You can stay in the yurt at the lake.
For the lavender, it is in Huocheng. It is suggested to hire a car to reach directly and the car's fare is around 300RMB.
July to September is the best time to visit Turpan.
For the Karakl Lake, do you refer to the one in Yili? If so, you may need to drive about 30 to 35 hours. For the Tashkargun, I am sorry that I am not very clear about that position.

hi there :
first i warmliy welcome to xinjiang and my home town kashgar ;
even this reply late .
one of my friend give you good info about xinjiang but about tashkorgan not enogh ,
for the sayram you take yining bus from nanzigou bus station .
the price is 200 to 300 yuan .
you can stay in kazak yurt in sayram lake , it cost about 50 to 100 yuan .
I recommend to you hire car , which is english speaker driver . then on the way back from sayram lake drive directly to turpan .
the grape fisteval starts Aug 25 to Sep 5 almost 10 days , and it depand on weather .
kara kol lake 200 km from kashgar , // kara kol to tash korgan 100 km // kara kol lake to khunjerab pass 220 km . do you want cross the border ? if you want come back to kashgar you have to stay over night in tash korgan .
