age limits on work visa Z

I have an offer from a company in Shanghai, but I am over the 55 y limit for women. Is there any change in this? I can ask for an exception if I can prove that I am an expert with a lot to offer, I think. How is the application different for the exception, and what is the increased cost? Thanks. CJS

Did you get the work Permit/Foreign Expert Certificate? The company is going to get it for you. If yes, you can apply for a work Z from the embassy/consulate. I heard that this age limit can be flexible based on working categories.

Ok, this is promising, but how can I find out about the categories? I am highly skilled professional. Also interested in the R1 category that is new as of July 1, I believe. Any input about a location for the categories with ages? I have seen a blog for teachers that discusses the Expert Certificate and that this worked for them to get an age exemption, but I need more details if possible. My company is thinking that this is expensive, and / or low odds. I need numbers if possible! Thanks, CJS

Sorry, I only know there are many esl teachers or teachers in universities who are in their 60s or even 70s. Maybe you can try to contact a visa egency for the latest information. I have no idea about the new regulation, so please kindly let me know if you get any information.
