question regarding tourist visa

I was in the PRC in 1995 when i was a student and will be coming to Manila (from Guam) to obtain a L type. I do not have the same passport as I had in 1995 (that shows the original visa), but have a new valid US passport. From reading the requirements it appears that other than my passport, application, and proof of hotel and airline ticket showing i'm departing PRC there is nothing else that is needed, is this true? It does not appear to me that I need to take bank statements, tax returns, etc. Thanks for the help.
