Checked-baggage problem, help!

Hi there!
I just read that "Baggage carried by transit passengers should consist of no more than necessities for traveling. Luggage for short-term multiple-entry transit passengers' personal use includes a camera, a small video camera, a hand-held camcorder and a laptop, and any articles for individual special needs approved by the customs.".
Does that mean, that I'm not allowed to take my checked-baggage into the city (out of the customs' surveillance zone)? I'm just coming back from a 10 month stay in New Zealand - therefor I'm traveling with two suitcases and I wouldn't say that everything in them is really "necessary for travelling" (i.e. a tent, souvenirs and so on..).
In case I'm not allowed to take them with me, can I just store them somewhere at the airport?

Best regards,

Ole

Which airport will you land at? I think you should contact the airport directly. They can give you the correct answer.

No, you can surley take your luggage out of the airport. Just if you have camera things, they may need to be checked by customs. Don't worry!

If it is too heavy, you can store that in the Luggage-left Counters, which can be easily found in T1, T2 and T3.
