Yes, you can take some. If it is large amount, you have to declare and pay duty.

I was thinking of three cartons of cigarettes (30 packs). Would this be considered a large amount?

I heard you can take 400 cigarettes, 20 packs in total for duty free. For your extra ones, you may need to pay tax.
