Applying for a PRC tourist visa on a UK passport but living in New Zealand

Have been invited to compete in a competition in PRC representing New Zealand. My passport is a UK one but I do reside in New Zealand. Is it straight forward for me to apply for a tourist L via the PRC consulate/embassy in New Zealand??

Yes, you can apply directly in New Zealand if you work and reside in there. Please check the consular district of the Chinese embassy and consulate first for application.
