About:China Visa

Am I eligible for the 72hours visa free transit?

I will fly from Boston and arrive Shanghai Pudong airport 2:05PM on 7/19 and then same day at 7:05pm fly from Shanghai HongQiao to Taipei.

Someone who was in the same situation said it's impossible. I think you should contact Shanghai Airport Immigration Inspection at 0086-21-51105100 for more information.

Thank you very much for your reply. I called Shanghai airport immigration inspection at 86-21-51105100 yesterday and they told me I am eligible for free transit. I also sent an email to Washington DC consulate consular office about my situation and they sent me a return email confirmed that I am free of it. Did your friend transit fly from either Beijing or Shanghai Pudong or Shanghai Hongqiqo and was required of visa by airport immigration inspection? Or he/she just apply one before his/her travel?

Hi Julia, thanks very much for sharing this information here. It is really a good news. I think what Judy said about her friend's case is not the same as yours - a transit via two airports in Shanghai, but two airports in two different cities.
