About:Chinese Consulate in San Francisco

US citizens would like to bring parents from Peru to join us in China

My wife and I have opportunities to work in China and it is possible we might wish to stay for 5 years or permanently. We wish to bring my wife's parents from Peru to stay with us in China. How soon can we make this happen? Thankyou for your advice!

We are interested in having her parents stay with us permanently, not just as guests.

Hi, you are eligible to apply for a work Z and residence permit valid for the max of 5 years. Your wife's parents, as accompanying family members, will be issued for minimum of 180 days up to a maximum of five years. However, it is very difficult for you all to stay permanently.

So after 180 days, they would need to go back to Peru? If we were permanent residents, could we sponser her folks, so they could be permanent?

It is possible for them to get a long residence permit accompanying your work there. 180 day is the minimum duration. If you were permanent residents, you can sure be their sponser for application.
