About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

May I apply for multiple entry this year (2013)?

I'm asking the question as every year it seems different. As the spouse of a Chinese citizen 4 years ago while applying for a normal "L" I was offered 90 days multiple (max 60 days at a time) and our kids had 90 days without the max. Over the last couple of years I've only had single entry, and in 2012 when I asked about double (as I possibly had to back to UK for work reasons) I was told I had to have plane tickets or two invitation letters.
So I'd like to know if I can apply for a double or multiple entry.
If it helps for the future we want to register our marriage (of 9 years) in China, or officially marry there so my name can be on the house we bought there 4 years ago.
Opinions appreciated - xiexie!

You can apply for multiple entry now. I think it is easy for you as you were issued many before.

Last year I was told I'd need two sets of plane tickets or two invitation letters so I'm not sure it's that easy.

I wanted to know if there was a simpler way of requesting double or multi entry due to family situation.

Personally, I think you can enter with a L, a single entry is enough to register your marriage in China first. With Chinese marriage certificate, you can extend your L at local PSB. This is easier than apply multiple entry L directly from UK.
