About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will be at Tianjin by CRUISE on 7 October 2013 I want to stay two days in Bijing Do I need Visa ?

I am a US citizen travel from Alaska on 21 Sep.2013 to Bijing on 7 Nov.2013 stay in Bijing for two days and
go Bangkok.

Yes, you should apply for a L type one in advance.
