Enquiry 72 hrs visa-free transit in Beijing

Hi, I will take CA178 from Melbourne to to London, transit in Beijing, the flgiht will stop over in Shanghai in 1.5 hr(request entry). Please advise how I can apply for 72 hrs free transit in Beijing through China Air line as they are nr sure how to di it.Thank you.

Hi, it is not necessary to do that if the stopover is for 1.5 hr only. If you do need to go out of the airport, you can apply for a transit permit at the airport. I think the airline should know this as this policy has been operated for 5 months. The correct procedure should be: tell the airline about your free transit request, and fill a form for it before boarding your plane to Beijing so that you will be issued a permit upon arrival.
