Work (Z) Visa for a year

I was hired by a company, I was told to go to HK and update to a work Z. I was given an expert's certificate, copies of the letter, and my health check back. I was told to go this Monday and hand it in. However, what this says sounds different. I was told it is for 1 year, with multiple entries. I was also told wait over night and pick it up. This above sounds different; nothing about having to go back and forth some times. I was told they needed to get the residence permit and work permit before applying for the expert certificate. What should I do????

You need to apply for a work Z before to apply for a residence permit. I heard that new visa regulation will come into effect soon, so I am afraid can you apply now in HK for a work Z.

BTW, I am not clear why you were told to apply for multiple entry Z for one year. The Z is usually issued with 1 entry and 000 as duration, because you should apply for a residence permit after entry. The permit will work as multiple entries thereafter.

ok, it seems I was misinformed. I was told to take my documents, get the 30 day work permit, and then they will get the residence permit and update the Z and give me. But I admit I am nervous to give anyone my passport. I was told I am ok, with a Masters degree and over 15 years experience in Japan before coming here, there would be no problem with the Z type one, but as you mentioned there are many rules changes (some of my future colleagues may not be able to renew when their time comes)
