About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

They gave me a ten day only (can I return?)

I went to the PSB and wanted to change my visa type. They then gave me a ten day one. I was advised to go out of the country and reapply.

Is this normal practice or am I in big trouble?

May I know if you mean to convert business F/working Z to tourist L? did you provide bank statement for this conversion/extension? Anyway, the visa officers make the final decision based on documents provided. But don't worry, the one issued with ten days does not mean you did anything wrong or have any trouble here. Maybe they just change the rule, or else.
